Therapy can be beneficial to all of us at different times in our lives. People seeking therapy often report being in pain or confused while others refer to being stuck. In addition clients explain that they aren’t sure anything is really wrong, they just feel as though they are missing something. There are also times in life that significant events happen and sometimes people just aren’t sure how best to respond. These life events can be traumatic and result in deep emotional pain. Others have had a series of events in life that have left them deeply hurt and as a result they aren’t even sure where to start. If you identify with any of these thoughts I encourage you to come in for an initial consultation.
My training and experience have proven that two of the critical keys to therapy are safety and comfort. It is essential that clients are able to sit with me and explore their life, experiences and relationships in an environment that allows them to be open and honest. Often clients report that this is the first time they have shared a particular incident or emotion. That is an indicator that we have reached a point where true change and healing can begin. This safety and comfort combined with an objective and intentional connection with a therapist has proven to be effective time and again in my practice.
In therapy there are no strings attached. I will work with you on identifying, establishing and pursuing the goals that you desire. At times I may challenge you in an attempt to help you act or see things differently. Therapy ends when you wish it to end. Therapy happens as often as you determine, working within the confines of my schedule. Just as you chose to come to the website you get to choose when you will contact me and schedule an appointment. It is important that you understand and recognize the power that you possess in the therapeutic process.
Thank you again for taking the time to consider my practice as you seek what you desire in this life and specifically in therapy. Please do not hesitate to contact me at info@richshannon.com or (775) 560-5326.
